Transformation of the Day: Cassandra lost 50 pounds. Her turning point came when she had a stroke on her birthday, earlier this year. Since then, she has become a Pescatarian and gotten her blood pressure under control. Check out her story.
After suffering a stroke on my birthday, April 6th, and fighting to gain back some normalcy, I decided to FIGHT to live again, but this time in a very holistic and healthy way.
I adopted a Pescatarian lifestyle, and since then, I’ve lost 50 pounds in a few short months. It’s been hard, but doable. NOTHING but my faith in GOD, and the love I receive from my family has allowed me to LIVE again!
How did you change your eating habits?
I ate three times a day. My meals are mainly PROTEIN with little to no carbs. My diet consisted of fish, beans, and salads. Now, my favorite foods are salads and black beans. After a recent gallbladder attack, I had to limit my intake of fatty fishes.
Tell us about your exercise routine.
My exercise regimen is progressing. Currently, swimming is my primary form of exercise after suffering the stroke. I went from 366 pounds (highest weight ever) to my current weight of 316 pounds. My short term goal to get down to 266 pounds.
What is your height?
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I finally learned to eat for the sake of nutritional benefits and not for taste, comfort, or pleasure. The stroke that could’ve taken my LIFE saved my Life! My poor eating habits lead to hypertension and pre-diabetes. My blood pressure is now controlled by taking meds, and diabetes is not evident. My goal is to live a healthy life, free of medication.
