Desi before and after

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you felt like giving up?
There was a day when I was so unhappy and depressed that I wasn’t confident enough to take my daughter to the zoo because I couldn’t physically walk around for that amount of time. My feet hurt constantly, and I was always out of breath. Then, I had a doctor’s appointment, where I was told that I was pre-diabetic. That’s when I knew it was time to change my lifestyle for the better, not just for me but for my daughter and my family as well.

When I felt like I wanted to give up, I truly knew that wasn’t an option for me. I never gave up hope. My health, sanity, and my goals were too big to stop bettering myself. It was hard, but I pushed through it and didn’t give up. If I have one bad “cheat” day or weekend, it’s always followed by a new day to try again.

How did you change your eating habits?
For the first 4-6 months of my weight loss/lifestyle journey, I used meal replacement for two meals a day and ate one sensible meal in the evening. I wasn’t very knowledgeable about supplements or anything Ike that, so I drank Slim Fast extra protein meal replacement shakes. I stopped drinking sugary drinks and drank ice water with Mio electrolytes instead. It was so good! Low cal to zero cal and yummy! For my evening meal, I ate low carb recipes! I did not follow any specific diet plan.

Tell us about your workout routine.
For the first 4-6 months, I have no idea what I was doing in the gym. I used almost every machine. I went to the gym 3-4 days a week for 2 hours and fifteen minutes, which is absolutely crazy lol. I literally did a little bit of everything and was extremely unorganized.

Starting weight/Current weight
198.7 pounds was my starting weight. I currently weigh 129.7 pounds of lean AND strong muscle! I want to show women that it’s okay to show off their natural bodies before and after weight loss. I am a body-positivity and self-care enthusiast.

What is your height?
I am 4 feet, 11 3/4 inches tall.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on June 23rd, 2018! I’m still in the process of transforming my body to fit my goals. A year and one month is how long I’d say it took to lose the weight.

Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Surgery is not for me!

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned to be more aware of what actually goes into my body and how to use portion control. The serving sizes on food packaging are there for a reason.

What advice would you like to share?
It’s a lifestyle change. That means everything you’ve previously had programmed in your mind has got to go! I believe and tell other women who ask me how to start that it’s all about mindset. YOU have to want it. YOU have to start taking responsibility for your actions and take action! No one can change you, but you. Love yourself and the skin that you’re in. No matter what, you can change. Change when you genuinely know that you are ready; otherwise you’re destined for failure.
