What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation came from my health deteriorating. I had health issues, such as difficulty breathing, waist and knee pains, and high cholesterol. I was also borderline for diabetes.

My mother is my biggest inspiration. Even though my health was deteriorating, I wasn’t serious about dieting and exercising until November 2018 when my family and I visited my parents in Atlanta, Georgia for Thanksgiving. My mom called the family downstairs for breakfast. I was in my nightgown, so I was jiggly. As soon as I got to the table, she gasped and said, “I thought you said you were losing weight. Gosh, look at that belly?” Ouch, that hurt! I mean, I literally broke down, cried, and ate more than necessary. Right then and there, I made a conscious decision to get more serious with my nutrition and exercise. I told myself that it was definitely time for a change. That one remark from my mother set me on course for my weight loss success. To me, that was the turning point for me to make a complete lifestyle change.

How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by setting up a healthy eating plan. I cut out all carbs (rice, bread, potatoes, etc.), dairy products, fruits, and sugar. I ate lots of protein and veggies. I also drank a gallon to a gallon and a half of water daily. It was more of a high protein diet plan.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consisted of great cardio and strength training. I exercised four to six days a week, and I look forward to the exercises each time. As a matter of fact, I prepare by laying out my workout clothes the night before, as well as planning my workouts in terms of which muscle groups I will be training.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 198 pounds, and my current weight is 150 pounds.

What is your height?
I am 5 feet tall.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my weight loss journey on December 1, 2018. My transformation took about ten months.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery was not part of my journey. It was all-natural and hard work.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned on my journey is that “One cannot out-train a bad diet.” As a matter of fact, you can eat healthy and still gain weight!

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice to others who want to lose weight is to be patient, be persistent, stay consistent, and work hard. Weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. It took you years to gain weight, and it will undoubtedly take time to get the weight off, so be patient and enjoy the process.
